Hazel Metheny, 94, of Columbia, Mo., passed away Friday, March 17, 2006, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Mrs. Metheny was born October 15, 1911, in Briensburg, Kentucky to Benjamin and Effie McWaters. She married Harold Metheny on March 25, 1928, and were married 69 years before his death in 1997. She was a resident of Paducah until June 2005, when she moved to Columbia to be close to her daughter. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Paducah.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard Wallace of Columbia; her brother, J.E. McWaters and his wife, Mary, of Paducah; a son-in-law, Wilbert Elliott of Abingdon, Md.; four grandchildren, Suzann Powers and Sandra Wallace, both of Paducah, Lisa Evans and her husband, Robert, of Blue Springs, Mo., and Barry Elliott of Abingdon; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Elliott, three sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Lindsey Funeral Home. Rev. Merle Thomas officiated. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
