FOURTH CHILD, Samira's, headstone has her birth as 1844; however, the 1850 Census lists her birth as being ca 1846 in Mississippi, two years years younger than Peter, born in Alabama.
According to the census cited above, Martha and Ammon were in Indiana by ca 1834, the birth of their first and were still there at the birth of their second daughter. They were in Alabama at the birth of their third child born ca 1843. By ca 1846, birth of their fourth child, Martha and Ammon were in Mississippi.
After Ammon H Lindley's death, the Union confiscated all/most of what little Martha had from the widow's portion of the "estate" and left her destitute.

Lindley, had never been paid what was determined to be a reasonable worth: $320 - The findings of the Court of Claims is headed, "Ammon F. Lindley, administrator. Letter from the Assistant Clerk of the Court of Claims transmitting a copy of the findings filed by the court in the case of Ammon F. Lindley, administrator of Martha W. Lindley, deceased, against the United States." The entire passage (3 pages) is stored at the National Archives.
