Clara Francis "Fannie" (Miller) Buckner was the third wife of Levi Buckner. She died from a fall down some stairs at her brother George Calvert Hart Miller's home while she was there for his funeral. George died on 21 October 1932 after he was trampled by a bull.
Clara is in the following census records:
1870 Fed. Census in Sweet Home, Linn, Oregon, with her parents and siblings.
1880 Fed. Census in Scio, Linn, Oregon, with her parents and siblings.
1900 Fed. Census in South Brownsville, Linn, Oregon, "Fannie" is living with her husband Levi Buckner and their 5 children (Howard, Harley, Daisy, Fred and Nellie). The census records states that "Fannie" has 6 children 5 of whom are living so "his" daughter Bessie (born in 1879 per the 1880 census) died before the 1900 census OR "their" daughter "Bessie" born in 1885 and died in 1897 per her headstone at Franklin Butte Cemetery, Scio, Linn, Oregon. Perhaps Fannie raised "his" daughter Bessie as her own daughter and included Bessie as a deceased child OR they had a daughter together named Bessie and she was born in 1885 the year after Levi and Fannie married and Bessie died in 1897. (This mystery is still being researched as of 23 Feb 2009.)
1910 Fed. Census in Portland Ward 2, Multnomah, Oregon, "C.F. Buckner" is living with her husband "L.L. Buckner" and 3 of their children "H.H. Buckner", H.D. Buckner", "F. Buckner" and "Nelly Buckner". The census record states that Clara "Fannie" had 7 children 5 of whom are living so Levi's daughter Bessie by his second marriage or "their" daughter Bessie and son "Jimmie" born in 1901 and died in 1904 are probably the 2 deceased children who are buried together in Franklin Butte Cemetery in Scio, Linn County, Oregon. If the joint headstone was placed after Jimmie's death in 1904 (I don't know if the birth and death dates are accurate for Jimmie as I cannot find Jimmie in the Oregon Death Index) "possibly" the birth date for Bessie on the headstone is incorrect as Levi had a daughter Bessie by his second wife Clara A. (Coston) Buckner who was born in Jul 1879 per the 1880 census. When headstones were placed sometime after the death of a person, the birth and death dates could be and sometimes were construed and this may be what happened in the case of the headstone of Bessie and Jimmie Buckner. Bessie would have died 7 years before Jimmie died and then who knows when the headstone for the two of them was placed.
