PLAINVIEW - Louise Simpson Joachim, 96, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mrs. Joachim was born in the Ellen community south of Plainview. She attended Ellen and Plainview schools, graduating in 1918. She attended college in Canyon and received a bachelor of arts degree from Oklahoma State University. She also did graduate work and received a master of arts degree at OSU.

Her first teaching job was at Lakeside, south of Plainview. She later taught the Osage at Pawhuska, Okla. She moved to Plainview in 1942 and began teaching Latin at Plainview High School in 1943. She retired in 1965.

She was a member of the local, state and national teacher organizations. She also was a member of First Baptist Church, Plainview Delphin Club, the Order of the Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She married Fred N. Joachim in 1928 at Plainview. He died in 1988.

Survivors include cousins, Margarette Word of Floydada, Mrs. C.H. Oglesby of Hereford, and Mrs. A.L. Reynolds and Melva Fowler, both of Amarillo.
