W. Everett McVay June 02, 2006 11:18 am — ROYAL CENTER — Memorial services for W. Everett McVay, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Royal Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Grass Creek United Methodist Church.He died at 12:31 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, in Mark Twain Caring Center, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Born May 27, 1918, in Carroll County, he was the son of Lewis Dale and Gladys Meeker McVay. He was married Dec. 11, 1937, in Royal Center Methodist Church, to Thelma O. Baker, who preceded him in death July 30, 1997.
A 1938 graduate of Royal Center High School, Mr. McVay was a retired farmer. He was a member of Grass Creek United Methodist Church and liked to travel. Surviving are five sons, Wayne McVay, Darl McVay, and Marvin McVay, all of Twelve Mile, Lyle McVay, Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Roger McVay, Royal Center; four daughters, Virginia Nimon, Fort Wayne, Anita Miller, Royal Center, Connie Davis, Edmonton, Ky., and Linda Gulley, Fairview Heights, Ill.; one brother, Owen McVay, Rochester; one sister, Lois Scottney, Marion; 35 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Two daughters, two brothers and one sister preceded in death.
Pastor Dale Baker will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Grass Creek Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Grass Creek United Methodist Church. Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
