A brother, Simon, was born a year later and a sister, Victoria, was born in December of 1915. Shortly thereafter, Mary's mother, Anna, passed away. Her father then married Mary (Drajna) Borek. With this union, Mary now had two step-brothers, Francis Borek and John Borek, joined later by two half-brothers, Edward and Anthony, and two half-sisters, Isabell and Theresa. They lived on a farm north of Browerville in Ward Township of Todd County.
Mary attended the Holy Angels Catholic School in Browerville, and later Rural School #123. Shortly after beginning the sixth grade, the school building caught fire and was completely destroyed. Mary later went to St Cloud and worked at the St Raphael's Nursing Home.
Ben Drong and Mary Ann Kilanowski were united in marriage at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Browerville on February 5, 1929. Five children were born to them: Anthony Bernard, Mary Elizabeth, Bernice Evelyn, Frances Lillian, and James Theodore.
In June of 1949, Ben, Mary and the children moved to Courtenay, ND, residing on the Charles Dick farm, three miles south of town. They lived there until October of 1980 when they moved into Courtenay.
In October of 1978, the children and grandchildren hosted an open house in honor of Ben and Mary's 50th wedding anniversary. The reception was held at St Mary's Catholic Church basement.
Ben Drong passed away on November 22, 1980 at Jamestown Hospital. Mary continues to reside in Courtenay.
