Elaine had been a family researcher for many years.
Two of her children preceded her in death, Kimberly Pate (memorial #61090007) and Kevin Pate (memorial 6581538).

She had been married to Donnie Pate, Ernie Hales and David Young.

She passed away after several years of being ill.

Elaine was cremated and buried between her two oldest children. There is a headstone. Information provided to me by her son.

"Dear friends & family, as you may have already heard, our mother, Elaine Smith , passed to the realm of the ancients yesterday morning. We do appreciate and are grateful for all of your condolences. We also would like to use this opportunity to express to all of you that this is considered a tremendous blessing, not just for her, but by her. She often spoke of how she missed loved ones who crossed realms before her and expressed eagerness to be with them again. She told stories of her grandparents and no doubt had lots of love for them. Her two eldest brothers were never far from her thoughts. She would recall memories of her childhood that often left you full of laughter while she gave those memories life describing them. Certainly she is rejoicing with them this day. Her father, even though hardships were present throughout their relationship, she mentioned several times that as a child, the most dominant memory of his love was one night when he swept her up, sat her on his lap, and told her how she was his little girl and how he loved her. She missed him all the same. She endured many hardships in her life consisting of many different issues. The three things that seemed to have impacted her most was when her eldest son was involved in a fatal accident as a teenager, the loss of her mother, and most recently, the loss of her eldest daughter. The last year she lived in her apartment she kept all pictures of these three loved ones turned down. She could not bring herself to remove them but she could not bare looking at them any longer. She missed them dearly and longed to be with them so much that it hurt to see them in pictures. Several times she spoke of how much she missed all of them. She has been looking forward to reuniting with them again for quiet some time. The more time that past was just more time she waited for this day to come. Surely, today is the happiest day she has had in the longest of years. She truly is blessed to be somewhere where so many loved ones are.
