Leo Sattman, 85, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. Born Sept. 28, 1921, in New Boston, Mo. Leo David Sattman was the son of Anton and Agnes (Bishop) Sattman. Burial was in New Boston Cemetery, New Boston, Mo.
Memorial services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Russ L. Burnett officiating.
He grew up and received his education in Missouri. He then joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Naval Armed Guard during World War II.
Following his tour of duty, he returned to the states and worked at an automobile manufacturing plant in Kansas City.
In 1949, he moved to Ida Grove and operated a custom feed grinding service until 1972. He later managed the State Liquor Store in Ida Grove, retiring in 1987.
On Dec. 18, 1958, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Noethlich of Mapleton, Iowa, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. A daughter, Kelly, was born to this union.
He was a member of the American Legion McNamara-Moore Post 61. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling with Dorothy and playing a little bit of cards.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter and her husband, Kelly Sattman and Mark Lynch of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Carl Sattman of Winigan, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Ann Sattman of Raymond, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Louis, Andrew, Lawrence and Anton Sattman; and a sister, Rosie Roher.
