Frank Manvil Briese was born July 12, 1914 to Paul and Violenta (Walker) Briese in Burke, South Dakota, where he grew to manhood.
During World War II, Frank enlisted in the Army Air Corps in Bakersfield on August, 23, 1941 and served in the 393rd Squadron of 509th Composite Air Group which was charged with deploying the atomic bombs dropped on Japan which led to the end of the war. As flight engineer on the B-29 "Full House", he flew for weather reconnaissance an hour before the "Enola Gay" dropped the first bomb.
After the war, Frank moved to Oregon to help family run Lou & Ev's restaurant in Eugene before going into construction.
Frank had two sons: Paul of Lebanon, Ore. and Marc of Bend, Ore.
Frank passed away at this son Paul's home in Lebanon, Oregon, on May 26, 1990, at the age of 76.
