PORTLANDER DIES IN WAR
WO 1-C ALLEN D, PERKINS
An Army helicopter pilot from Portland was killed when his, helicopter crashed due to an apparent mechanical failure in South Vietnam Monday, the Defence Department reported Friday.
Warrent Officer Allen D. Perkins, 22, husband of Susan Perkins, 1725 SE Linn St., was the 530th Oregon serviceman to die in the Southeast Asian country since January, 1961, and the 136th in 1969.
WO Perkins was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Perkins, West Linn, and was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Witchita, Kan. He moved with his family to the Portland area in 1955 and was graduated from West Linn High School.
He entered the Army in October, 1966, and was stationed at Bien Hoa, South Vietnam. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Samantha Ann, 15 months, and his grandmother, Mrs. Maude Perkins, Salina, Kansas. Funeral arrangements are pending.
