C.L. 'Bud' Whisler
Memorial services were held Tuesday for C.L. 'Bud' Whisler of Florence. The services were held at the Wilson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Kinyon officiating.
Mr. Whisler died Saturday, March 18th. He was 70.
The son of Flossie(Roy) Whisler, he was born Sept. 9, 1924 at Wilsey, KS.
A retired heavy equipment operator, Mr. Whisler was a member of the International Order of Operating Engineers, Local 9. He has served with the Merchant Marines.
Mr. Whisler preferred the Baptist faith.
He had lived in Fremont County since infancy, when his family moved to Penrose from Kansas.
He worked in heavy construction until a disability caused him to retire in 1974.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending flea markets, and he also repaired jewelry.
He married Sondra White in Taos, New Mexico on June 19, 1954. She survives.
Also surviving are children Melody McKinney of Florence, Steven Whisler of Buena Vista, Crystal (John) Clemmons of Colorado Springs, Starlet (Russell) Murray of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Twilia (Mike) Holle of Minot, North Dakota, Michelle (Mike) McLaughlin of Anchorage, Alaska, Terry Whisler of Florence, and Taunya (John) McDowell of Colorado Springs.
Surviving grandchildren include Corey and Ashley McKinney of Florence, Courtney Clemmons of Colorado Springs, Matthew McLaughlin of Ankorage, Derek Murray of Broken Arrow, and Christopher Daffron of Colorado Springs.
Other survivors include a step-brother, Bob Stebbins of Grand Junction, his close friend Bob Hamilton of Canon City and his mother-in-law, Edna White of Canon City.
Mr. Whisler was preceded in death by his sister and parents.
Cremation was held. Wilson Almont Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
