Local Man Dead
Cleburne Man In Custody Following Saturday Murder

James Patrick Riley, 25 year old Cleburne Route 1 resident was arrested early Monday morning of this week by members of the Alvarado Police Department in Arlington and charged with the shooting death of Ronald Glenn Coleman of Alvarado.

According to Police Chief Jim Perkins, the fatal shooting occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. Saturday on East College Street directly behind the Mahanay Bros. Service Station.

Chief Perkins declined to give any further details and said the murder is still under investigaion by his department.

According to some witnesses, an argument broke out between the two men near the Clayton Kay Funeral Home and then ended after a two cars chase the Mahanay Bros Station where Coleman was shot at least one time in the stomach by a 38 caliber pistol.

It is further reported that either the assailant or a companion with Coleman drove the wounded Alvarado man to the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hardee, in the 800 block of West Atchley where he staggered or was carried to the front porch of the home.

A neighbor, Mrs. Cindy Collins is reported to have seen the incident and Coleman lying on the porch and reported the incident to the Johnson County Sheriff's Department.

Johnson County Medical Examiner, Arthur Raines, prounced the 28 year old Alvarado native dead at the scene.

Coleman was buried Tuesday morning following graveside services at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of the Clayton Kay Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Nina Beth Paris Coleman, sons, Wesley and Christopher, and daughter, Dawn, all of Alvarado.

Also survived are parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Coleman of Alvarado; brother, Ralph Coleman of Dallas and Mrs. Peggy Sue Wallace of Fort Worth; grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Robert Hardee and Mrs. M.M. Coleman all of Alvarado.
