Edgar Daniel Sweaney was the son of Frederick R. Sweaney, a civil war soldier and Sarah Ann Thompson, a full-blooded American Indian.
His family moved from Tuscawaras County, Ohio to Chanute, Neosho County, Kansas around 1870. There, Edgar married his first wife, Florence Rhoades and 2 children were born: Charles Alvin and Victor Vernon Sweaney.
Later, in 1896, he married Clara Esther Carter. 3 children were born: Elmer Eugene, Melissa Lorene, and Fred Reginald Sweaney.
This family moved to Oklahoma and then Washington State, where he stayed close to his family, even after his divorce to Clara.
Edgar remarried a third time to Rachel Emanda Martin (Thacker) and 2 children were born: June and Vivian Doris Sweaney.
Edgar died of Stomach Cancer in 1938 and left behind his wife, Rachel, his sons, daughters: Lorene Molyneux of Twin Falls, Idaho, June and Vivian Doris Sweaney, step-daughter Georgina Thacker, and 2 step-sons, Willis and Raymond Thacker of Washington State. He was preceded in death by his parents: Sarah Ann Sweaney and Frederick R. Sweaney.
