Obituary: CHANUTE BLADE, JAN 7, 1887
F. R. Sweaney, an old soldier who has long been afflicted with dropsy, died last night at his home in this city. The funeral will take place at the M.E. Church at 9 am tomorrow, after which burial will be conducted by the G.A.R. Post of this city.

He served under Colonel Oliver P. Taylor for Tuscawaras County, Ohio Company D.

According to OhioCivilWar.com, the 161st Regiment had been ordered to Cumberland, Maryland after being mustered in Camp Chase on 9 May 1864, this was soon after daughter Dolly Sweaney was born a month before. They fought in Martinsburg before returning home 2 Sept 1864.
