After a lifetime of many moves, Harold E. Jenkins, 89, of Bowling Green, OH, made his final move to his heavenly mansion early in the morning of June 10, 2014. Harold was born Dec. 6, 1924, to James Milton and Mary Jane [Mamie] Jenkins, in Tampa, FL. He enlisted in the US Navy the day after Pearl Harbor and was deployed on the USS Talamanca and served in the south Pacific during WWII. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Tampa, where he met and married (Naomi) Faye Hart on Sept. 19, 1947. After a long career in the transportation industry and many moves, he and Faye ended up in Jacksonville, FL, where they lived until finally moving to Bowling Green in 1995, to be with their children and grandkids. They made their home at Stadium View until Faye's death on March 28, 2011, which left a big hole in Harold's life and caused him to move to Heritage Corner. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 2010 and loved to talk about his experience. He was a proud member and regular attendee of BG Covenant Church; indeed, his last outing was to service on Sunday. He loved to read, write, and tell stories and jokes, and was fond of saying that he was self-educated by his many years of study of all things that interested him. Other organizations he belonged to included 65 years as a Mason, member of the North Baltimore Masonic Lodge #561, several Friends of the Library organizations, and SCORE. He is survived by his daughter Betty (Mark) Winslow and his sons, Ken (Wendy) and Jim (Cathy Jenkins; his grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Amanda Winslow; Stephen, Phil, Greg (Bethanie), Ryan, and Nick (Angela) Jenkins; and his great-grandchildren Kendall Rusincovitch and Rowan, Lillian, and Tristen Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother George, his dear wife, and his oldest grandchild, Lisa M. Winslow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Bowling Green Covenant Church 1165 Haskins Rd. Bowling Green. Burial will be held in Plain Township Cemetery where the Wood County Honor Detail will provide Military Honors. Public visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the DUNN FUNERAL HOME located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster St. There will be a Masonic service held Friday evening at 7:45 pm in the funeral home.
