BROTZMAN, Dorothy Jo (67) of Spirit Lake, ID Passed away in Coeur d' Alene on Thursday November 1, 2007. Dorothy was born In San Diego, CA on June 3, 1940 the daughter of Lewis and Glenna (Bussert) England. Dorothy was raised in Vista, CA where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Vista High School in 1958. After high school she worked for Calavo Avocado Growers as a Lab Technician in their packing plant. Dorothy married Larry Brotzman on June 2, 1961 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family lived in Vista where she helped run an insurance agency with her husband. The couple moved to Liberty Lake in 1993, later moving to Spirit Lake in 2000. Dorothy was very active in many clubs and organizations during her life. She was active in the Emblem Club for over 15 years, the Soroptimist International for over 27 years, the Republican Women's Club, Community Development Associates, Vista Chamber of Commerce Dons, Grandmother's Club and The Red Hat Society. She was very active in the PTA when her children were in school and was voted "Woman of the Year" in Vista, CA in 1988. She was a very active member of the Spirit Lake Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Larry at their home in Spirit Lake, Daughter Linda (and Ted) Gehrig of Laguna Niguel, CA, son, Larry Dean Brotzman Jr. of Coeur d' Alene, ID, step-daughter, Sheryle Busby of Dekalb, IL and step-son Donald (and Laura) Hitchcock of Escondido, CA, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by two sisters, Peggy Scaggs and Betty Baker, and three brothers, Lewis England, Jerry England and Dan England. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 11AM at the Spirit Lake Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Spirit Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Dorothy Brotzman Memorial Fund in care of The Spirit Lake Baptist Church Spirit Lake, Id. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home and Crematory in Priest River, Id is in charge of arrangements.
