Mary was born on Jan. 15, 1893 and raised in Castilenti, Italy and was the last of nine children of Davide & Lucia Calandra. She was only 3 months old when her father Davide died on April 30, 1893 and moved with her mother Maria Lucia Calandra to Collecorvino. Her mother married Ferdinando Ciprette on June 25, 1900 in Castilenti. She had siblings Alfredo, Donato, Aurelio, Cristina, Adalgiso & Cesare.
Mary was 18 when she married Pat Robey (Pasquale Iacurto) about 1912/1913 in Altoona, PA & they had eight children listed above etween 1918 and 1935 over a span of 17 years. Mary was a stay at home Mom raising all those children!
Mary & Pat appeared in the 1920 Altoona, PA census living at 2011 9th Ave. with son Julius. The census states Mary immigrated to the US in 1913 and was naturalized in 1915.
They lived in Altoona, PA till about 1923 where the first three children were born and then moved to Cleveland, OH before April of 1924 where the last five children were born.
They appeared in the 1930 Cleveland census living at 15808 St. Clair Ave. with children Julius, David, Jennie, Elmer, Gloria & Lucy.
Her brother Chet also lived in Altoona & her brother Dan lived in Philadelphia. When Dan's wife died in 1920, she & Pat took care of three of Dan's children until he remarried in 1921 & moved to Cleveland, OH.
She and Pat were living at 916 Evangeline Ave and had been married about 50 years when he passed away on Oct. 4, 1961 at a hospital on 152nd St. from pneumonia after surgery at age 73.
Mary was living with son Julius at 834 E. 152nd St. in Cleveland prior to her death. She was 78 years old when she died from a heart failure due to stomach cancer on Jan. 6, 1971. Both she & Pat were cremated. Mary had 23 grand-children and 2 great-grandchildren.

MARY ROBEY (nee Calandra), beloved wife of the late Patrick; dearest mother of Julius Robey, Dave Robey, Jane Martucci, Elmer Robey, Gloria Anderson, Lucille Myotte, Dorothy Kalcher, and Tina McCourt of California, grandmother of 23, passed away Jan. 6, 1971 at Euclid General Hospital. Memorial services at Shoregate Melhodist Church at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9.

MARY ROBEY 78, residing at 834 E. 152 St., widowed, died at Euclid General Hospital at 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 6, 1971 from acute myocardiac infarction. She also had arteriosclerotic heart disease and gastric carcinoma. Informant was son Julius Robey who listed her DOB as 1/15/1892, parents unknown. She was cremated on Jan. 7, 1971 at the Cleveland Crematory.
