He was the son of Barbara (Stoner) and John BENNETT.

Aquilla was the husband of Sarah Ann (Hassinger).

Their children were Adaline, Francis, Almira, Francis E., Mary R., Enulia, Flora M., Julia, John, Ira, Clara, Grace, Sarah, Emmanuel, Rosa "Rose", Daisy.........

*******************

Aquilla was a farmer. The 1850 Census for IL, DeWitt, Twp 21 show an 18 year old Aquilla and a 20 year old brother David working as farm laborers. Both are shown as single men.

The 1900 Federal Census shows that Aquilla's father was born in Maryland and his mother was born in Pennsylvania.

The 1910 Federal Census has Aquilla's mother Mary living next door to Aquilla and Sarah.

Although the 1900 Federal Census shows Grovie, b.1891 in Illinois, to be a child of Aquilla and Sarah, I have correspondence from a direct descendant of Grovie saying that Rosa Bennett Miller was her birth mother and that Aquilla and Sarah raised Grovie on their farm as one of their own. - Death Source: Illinois Statewide Death Index
