LANCE FERRAL McCAIN
Family and friends of an outstanding Webster Parish youth today are awaiting the report of an autopsy to tell them what caused his untimely death.
Lance Ferral McCain, 13, apparently died in his sleep late Friday night or early Saturday morning while he and his father were on a camping trip.
According to authorities, the two Sibley residents had set up camp in rural Bienville Parish Friday night, in anticapation of hunting Saturday.
Danny McCain apparently attemped to awaken his son early Saturday morning and discovered his death.
The youth's body was taken to Bossier Parish for an autopsy by Dr. George McCormick.
Funeral services will be today at 3:00 p.m. in the Minden Rose-Neath Chapel with Bro. Warren Conners officiating, assisted by Bro. Virgl Groves.
Interment will follow in the Bistineau Cemetery.
McCain was an outstanding student at Central Jr. High School in Dubberly.
An active member of 4-H, he served as vice president of the Webster Parish Executive 4-H Council, as vice predident of the Central 4-H Club, as vice president of Webster Parish 4-H Livestock Club, and as a Junior Leader.
He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Sibley and the American Junior Simmental Association.
A native of Laredo, Texas he had resided in Sibley for the past 11 years.
He is survived by his parents, Danny and Martha McCain of Sibley, a sister, Melissa McCain of Sibley, his paternal grandpaarents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McCain of Sibley and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Lowery of Bossier City, two great-grandmothers, Mrs. Lullean Sullivan of Sibley and Mrs. Vela McCain of Ashland, La.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Sibley or to the Webster Parish 4-H Livestock Club.
