MONTPELIER — Lynn Smith Lyon, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the age of 77 at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier in the company of family and friends, following a hard fought battle with cancer. He spent his childhood roaming the hills and mountains around Emigration and North Canyon.

At the age of 17, Lynn enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for four years as a Navy Seabee, the majority of that time being spent in the Philippines.

Following his discharge from the Navy, he returned to the Bear Lake Valley, and shortly thereafter married Marilynn Kay Sanders of Afton, Wyoming, on February 18, 1956. Lynn and Marilynn had three sons, Edward, David and Timmy, and lived and raised their boys in Montpelier.

Lynn instilled in his sons the same love of the outdoors that he enjoyed during his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas "Ed," mother Camilla, and youngest son Timmy.

He is survived by his wife Marilynn, sons Edward (wife Vicky) and David (wife Barb), his five brothers, Verlin, Oneal, Melvin, Bruce, Max and sister Marian Foss. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
