Wanda J. Ronk, 89, of Cooks Springs, Ala., and formerly of New Market passed away Wednesday at The Village at Cooks Springs, Ala.

Mrs. Ronk was born Nov. 19, 1919 in Pleasantville, N.J., the daughter of Max L. and Christina (Mikula) Jeschke.

She received her Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University and her Master's Degree from DePauw University. She married James L. Ronk on Oct. 14, 1944 in Atlantic City, N.J. She was a retired teacher, retiring in 1989 after 15 years. She taught elementary school in the South Montgomery School Corporation. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crawfordsville.

She is survived by son, Raymond J. "Ray" (Linda) Ronk of Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Judith A. Ronk of Indianapolis; sister, Claire Howk of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Michelle Ashman of Birmingham, Ala., and Tamara Mathews of Birmingham, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren, Jack and Gabe Mathews of Birmingham, Ala., and Danielle Ashman of Pelham, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 25, 1999; grandson, Aaron Ronk; two brothers; one sister; and her parents.
