Tom was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma to William Riley "Bill" and Ora (Smith) Burnett. He departed this life August 27, 1999 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 4 days. Tom was an old cowboy who rodeod in his younger days and worked a on cattle ranch in Colorado. He was a truck driver for Stilwell Foods " Flowers Inc" for about 35 years before his retirement. When he was not working he was going coon huntin telling hunting stories and teacher the young guys how to hunt or navigate a semi truck through all the major cities in america "he new every curve, hill, speedtrap and truckstop". After he retired he turned his hunting interest to rabbit hunting "listening to his beagles run" and doing a little trading for just about anything of value mostly just to visit "bs" with friends and family. He had been on the Stilwell City Council for a few years when he suffered a stroke at home and after a major heart attack while in the hospital he was not able to recover from, we lost him on August 9, 1999 at St. Johns in Tulsa. Tom was a one of a kind original character always with a quick and to the point reply to any question or situation.
