|Birth: ||Oct. 30, 1856|
|Death: ||Nov. 1, 1856|
Newborn daughter of Margaret Edwards and John Price of Monkton, Pembroke, Wales.
Her parents and a four year old brother had left Iowa City and were traveling with other immigrant LDS Church members, headed for the Great Salt Lake Valley.
They had lost a baby daughter in Wales and then one baby boy, while aboard ship on the Atlantic, less than six months earlier.
Near the last crossing of the Platte River, Elizabeth, their fourth child, was born, only to live two days. She was buried there on the Great Plains.
The heartache borne by these parents is impossible to imagine.
"WE'LL MEET AGAIN"
A blanket wraps your tiny form,
As if it's presence can make you warm.
We cannot stop our freezing tears,
Nor think of future, empty years.
Nor even take the time to grieve,
For we must surely take our leave.
The handcarts slowly move along;
We, among the tattered throng.
We trudge along, behind the carts;
Choking sobs, with broken hearts.
Blinding sleet now numbs our pain;
Our only hope, "We'll meet again".
