U.S.Army Staff Sergeant Robinson was serving with Company E 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division.
He was serving as pointman for a 5 man recon team. They were in Kontum Providence S. Vietnam. The team became engaged in heavy fighting with the N. Viet., Robinson and 2 others were seperated from the team leader.
The next day ,they crossed a stream and began moving south where they were ambushed by more N.V.A. They managed to break away.
Robinson continued north. While the other two found cover. That's when Sgt. Robinson was last seen alive. The other 2 men continued to evade and was returned to friendly forces.In 1973, he was classified as Missing In Action.
Sergeant Robinson was barely into his second tour of duty when he disappeared.
there is a memorial erected on neosho street in burlington kansas for sgt. robinson.
