Morris Devon Howell Sr.
Mr. Morris Devon Howell, Sr., 75, made his journey to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson after a battle with COPD.
Visitation will be held today from 5-8 p.m. at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Natchez Trace Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. in Philadelphia, MS.
Mr. Howell, who was also known as Hal, D, Von, Devon, M.D. and most importantly Daddy and Papaw, retired as a supervisor for the Eaton Corporation formerly known as Sperry-Vickers after 30+ years of service. He was a gifted craftsman who spent much of his time in his shop creating, making and sharing his knives with family and friends. He was an avid Ole Miss fan, had a passion for classic cars, especially his red El Camino, and picked guitar and sang for anyone who would listen.
Mr. Howell is survived by his wife, Helen Howell; daughters, Sherry Brock and Susan Lancaster; son, Morris Howell, Jr.; step sons, Ed Abernathy and Mike Abernathy; brother, Lee Howell; two nephews; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the charity of your choice.
