POWERS - Stella F. Bal, 93, Powers, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at her home.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1917, to the late Stanley and Agnes (Jeskievich) Setlock in Vulcan. On Sept. 17, 1938, she married the late Henry Bal in Norway.
Stella loved volunteering at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility over the years, knitting, crocheting, doing her own yard work and will be remembered by her family and friends for her love of cooking Polish food. She was a member of the St. Anne's Society and St. John Neumann Church. Most important to her was her strong Catholic faith and spending time with her family.
Stella is survived by three children, Donald (Janice) Bal, Barbara (John) Hafeman and Dianne Williams; one brother, Walter (Vicki) Setlock; one sister-in-law, Nancy Setlock; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant daughter; two brothers, Matt and Edward Setlock; and one sister-in-law, Isabel Setlock.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Central time) on Friday June 11, 2010 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding with the St. Anne's Society reciting the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating.
Burial will take place in the Norway Township Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial will be established and memorials may be made out to the family of Stella Bal.
The Allo Coolman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
