Aletha Mae (Carothers) Snyder, 84, Cushing, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in Linwood Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope Cemetery, four miles north and 1/2 mile west of Ripley. The Rev. Larry Eslinger will officiate. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.

Snyder was born March 11, 1922, near Ripley to George and Mona (Kidder) Carothers. She married Robert Wayne Snyder on Aug. 24, 1938, and remained in the Cushing and Ripley areas the majority of her life.

She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother , great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who always showed love for her family and greatly enjoyed spending time with them. She has left her mark on her many children, and they will all dearly miss her.

Snyder had a lifetime love of music and in her youth played the banjo and guitar in a family band with her brother, Dale, and sister, Dorothy. They entertained friends and neighbors all around Ripley. They also broadcast on the radio as members of the Billy McGinty Band.

As a farmer's wife, Snyder he enjoyed farm life and could always be found hard at work at some chore, whether canning beans or working cattle.

She was predeceased by her parents; six siblings, Dale, Dorothy, Bob, Ray, Fern and George; one son-in-law, Raymond Clinton; and one granddaughter, Stella Jean Sweeny.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Snyder; six children, Sandra Stranglen and husband John of Oklahoma City, Dianne Clinton of Radley, Kan., Barbara Trent of Grand Prairie, Texas, Wayne Snyder Jr. and wife Linda of Ripley, Judy Bolen and husband Lon of Bokchito and Debbie Hatchett and husband Brett Hatchett of Edmond; one brother and two sisters, Johnny Carothers, Freda Tietz and Helen Sloan.

Pallbearers will be Lon Bolen, Lee Bolen, Russell Bolen, David Clinton, Brett Hatchett, John Stranglen, John Stranglen Jr. and Bryan Trent.
