He resided in Baltimore County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 5, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being Single, without dependents.

Charles was "Killed In Action" when his B-29 was lost, possibly due to icing, at coordinates 32o 10' N' - 107o 55' E over China during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
