Helen C. Beer, a long-time Larned resident, entered eternal life on February 12, 2010, in Denver, Colorado.

Helen was born to Paul R. Crow and Sylvia May Burk Crow on March 22, 1916, in Kinsley, Kansas, and spent her early years in the Garden City, Kansas area. She graduated from Garden City High School, earned her lifetime teaching certificate from Ft. Hays State College, and taught elementary school in both Kalvesta and Kinsley, Kansas, for 8 years. Helen married Larned resident Guy R. Beer on May 31, 1943, in Miami, Florida, where Guy was serving in the U. S. Navy. After Guy's discharge, the couple returned to Pawnee County and farmed until their retirement in 1983. Helen moved to the Denver, Colorado two years ago to be near her children. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Guy R. Beer, her parents, and four siblings: Geraldine Crow, Paul B. Crow, Ivan Crow, and Mary Jane Concannon.

Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Larned, a 50-year member of Eastern Star, and was active in and volunteered for many community organizations.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Paul R. Beer, Denver Colorado; three daughters and sons-in-law: Janet and Fred Grubbs, Tucson, Arizona; Pamela and Larry Propp, Sterling, Colorado; and Deborah and Don Quakenbush, Centennial, Colorado. Helen is also survived by three grandchildren: Erin Propp Long, Hayden, Colorado; Cory Quakenbush and Ryan Quakenbush, both of Centennial, Colorado; and one great-granddaughter, Brianna Long. Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Larned Cemetery, with the Pastor Rich Zimmerman presiding. Friends may sign the register Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, 916 Main, Larned, KS 67550. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
