Originally from Walton Co, FL, Leola moved to Staten Island, NY with her husband, Renato in 1950 where she lived for the next 25+ years, raising a family and eventually retiring to Pensacola, FL in 1976.
Leola grew up in the rural town of De Funiak Springs in the 40's, where all people were involved with self sustaining food growth. Her parents definitely made great use of the land they lived on, and her father worked in lumber production.
She met Renato near Eglin AFB and both fell in love. Leola move up to NYC, leaving her family, to be with the one she loved and adapted well to NYC life, always visiting her family in NW, FL at least once a year.
When you were in the company of Leola, life always looked up. She had a very special ability to be on your side of positive life. She was clearly able to make the most of most every moment of life.
Leola worked at Seaview Hospital on Staten Island as Nurses Aide.

Her younger cousin Larry writes, "I remember riding the school bus with her. I was maybe seven or eight and she was in high school. She was always loud and laughing and cutting up. She was fun to be around back then. We was all poor but had clean clothes and plenty to eat so we did not know we was poor."
