Louvenia, or "Vennie" as many called her, was born in Parrottsville, Tennessee in 1876, the 10th child of Reverend James Logan Harris and Sarah Jane Spangler Harris' 11 children. At the age of 15, Vennie married James Monroe "Jim" Goodnough. At least six of their twelve children were born in Tennessee before they moved to Greenville, South Carolina in the early 1900's. Jim worked as a section spool room worker in Woodside Cotton Mill in Greenville and during this time they had a total of twelve children, including Leura Mae, Callie, David Leonard "Len", Charles L. "Ell," Ernest Maloney "Lone," Hubert N. "Goody," William G. "Willie," Ella Maude, Annie "Ruth" B., Jessie Mae and Perry. Perry died four days after he was born. Another unknown child died at birth. Jim died in 1915 at the age of 41. Three or four years later, Louvenia married Beveus Hall Runyan, a widower, and they lived in Simpsonville, SC. They had one child, a son, Farrell Edward Runyan. Vennie lived the remainder of her life in Simpsonville and died at the age of 85.
