Cleta Mae Taylor, 90, former Raton resident, passed away April 24, 2011, in Denver City, Texas. She was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Morgan Mill, Texas, to James Doyle Halbert and Dovie Chapman Halbert.
She married Victor L. Taylor July 29, 1937. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1996.
She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Lee Enright of Edgewood; two granddaughters, Leslie Duke of Oklahoma and Lisa McNabb of Waco, Texas; three great grandchildren, James Duke III, Evelyn Duke and Sarah Elizabeth Duke of Oklahoma; sisters Wanda Alexander of Rio Rancho, Doylene Shipman of Rio Rancho and Frances Seymour of Denver Cuty; and one brother, Wilburn Halbert of Morgan Mill.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Raton. During World War II, she worked at Pantex Ordance Plant in Amarillo, Texas. The rest of her life, she worked in transportation, working for Red Ball Motor Freight and Jack. B. Kelley Company.
Cremation has taken place and she will be buried along with her husband Victor Taylor at Clayton.
