Son of Elijah Satterwhite Fortson - Elizabeth Fortson

The Fortson family came from North Carolina to Georgia, then to Alabama and last to Louisiana. Rev. Fortson came with his parents to Louisiana in the early 1850s.

The first Mayor for the Village of Grand Cane, Louisiana. He died in office.

Mayor Linda Scott Brown first woman mayor, put a memorial brick with his name on it at the entrance of the Grand Cane Park.
