He was a high school and college athlete, specializing in football, gymnastics, and was a bodybuilder on Muscle Beach at Venice in Los Angeles County. In 1960s and 70s, he rose to be a pro wrestling star best known for his "cast iron stomach'' that opponents loved to jump on. He drew jam packed crowds at New York's Madison Square Garden, Cow Palace, Oakland Arena and toured Asia and Mexico. He won and lost world championships at a dizzying pace and became a mainstay on an Oakland television station. He was proud of his physique, his skill, his titles and he was especially fond of his fans. After retiring in 1982, he worked for years as a maitre d' at a seafood restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco. Cause of death, abdominal infection. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
