|Birth: ||Jun. 6, 1797|

He was the son of Johann George & Anna Maria (Deiburt) Huntzinger. His father was a Revolutionary War soldier. Daniel's official name was Johann Daniel Huntzinger. He was the husband of two Mary M's which makes for some confusion. His first wife was Mary Magdaline (maiden name unknown) b. abt 1797 in Pennsylvania and died January 31, 1834 in Wayne County, Indiana. They were married Oct. 28, 1818 and had five children: William Franklin, Isreal B., Edward, Rev. Jacob B., and Owen.
In 1827, Daniel was part of the group that built the first log school in Fishersburg, Madison County, Indiana that also served as a church. About 1830 he became the distributor of the weekly mail from his home in Stony Creek Township, Madison County, Indiana. In 1835 he purchased an original land grant from the Federal Government in Madison County. His brother John purchased two the following year and one of them was adjacent to Daniel's.
Daniel's second wife was Mary Martha Knoll and she is buried with him. She was first married to Andrew Koeper which was also spelled Gaber on Dec. 13, 1828 in Ottersheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Some researchers listed her first married name as Croker. She and Andrew immigrated to the US in 1832 along with their infant son and her father John Knoll. She married Daniel Huntziger on July 29, 1837 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana. They had one daughter, Mary who married Samuel Wolfe.
In 1848 Daniel was listed in his father's estate papers as living in Jackson Township, Madison County, Indiana.
Note: I'm grateful to Dick Hunsinger for helping me sort the two Mary's and providing some of this background information on World Connect.
