Samuel L. Munz: Sterling man dies when motorcycle struck: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice
Sauk Valley Newspapers (Dixon-Sterling, IL) - Wednesday, June 6, 2012
Deceased Name: Samuel L. Munz: Sterling man dies when motorcycle struck
COLETA – A rural Sterling man was killed Tuesday night in a motorcycle accident that, police say, will be reviewed by the Whiteside County state's attorney for possible charges.

Samuel L. Munz, 53, was pronounced dead about 8:39 p.m. at CGH Medical Center in Sterling after an SUV hit the back of his motorcycle on state Route 40 just east of Coleta.

Whiteside County sheriff's deputies were called to the scene at 7:45 p.m Tuesday.

Munz was riding his motorcycle west on Route 40 about a half-mile east of Ridge Road. He had stopped to make a left turn into his driveway when a westbound SUV driven by Theresa A. Ruf, 42, of Chadwick, hit him from behind, according to deputies.

Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi said it appeared that Munz was pushed down the road after being hit. The sheriff said he did not believe Munz was wearing a helmet.

Wilhelmi said no citations had been issued. Deputies Wednesday still were interviewing witnesses.

The results of the investigation will be forwarded to State's Attorney Gary Spencer, Wilhelmi said.
