Jerald E Romelfanger, 68, Brick, NJ, died April 27, 2002, at his home.
Mr Romelfanger was born March 5, 1934 at Juanita, ND, the son of James and Gladys Romelfanger. He attended Jamestown Public Schools. He served in the US Army for 20 years in Germany and Vietnam, a chief of firing battery in field artillery and retired in 1975 with the rank of Sargeant First Class. He served in Vietnam in the 6th Battalion, 29th Artillery, receiving the Silver and Bronze Stars while serving in Vietnam. He carried a seriously wounded man through enemy fire to safety and applied first aid, saving the man's life. He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge, Brick.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Gary (Jeanne), New Orleans, LA; Donald (Elizabeth), Tinton Falls, NJ; and Ronney, Brick, NJ; a daughter, Tammy Lash, Brick, NJ; a twin brother, James (Patricia), Jamestown, ND; a sister-in-law, Kitty Ferebee, Brick and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Luiken, and three brothers-in-law.
