Harold served as a Private, Company G, 513th Parachute Infantry, 13th Airborne Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Washington County, Maryland prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on April 3, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.
Harold was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

The remains of Private Harold D. Dagenhart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dagenhart, arrived here for burial. He died in Belgium January 6, 1945.
Private Dagenhart was a paratrooper with the Air Force and was 20 years old at the time of his death.
He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and the Hagerstown Business School. He was a member of the Evangelical U.B. Church at Boonsboro.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Eloise Dagenhart, Boonsboro.
The body was returned to Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro, where services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Carvin Thompson. Interment in Boonsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of Clopper-Michael American Legion Post of Boonsboro.
