Francis A. "Frank" Ryan passed away at the age of 91. He was born to Henry Joseph and Edith Elberta Ryan. His parents homesteaded farms in Northern Stevens County in Washington. They had farmed in this area for several years. Later, they moved to Kelley Hill across the Columbia River from Bossburg, Washington. Frank worked on the farm, attended high school at Orient for three years, and graduated from high school at Monroe, Washington. He left the farm in 1939 and worked at Coulee Dam during its construction. He was also a waiter at Howe Sound Mine at the mess hall. Frank worked for the Nevada Employment Service in Las Vegas and Elko where he was the local office manager. He also worked for California Pacific Utilities Company in Elko, NV and as district manager in Westwood, California. He later accepted work as Senior Safety and Health Representative for Nevada OSHA where he worked until his retirement in 1984. Frank loved music and played the violin with various musical groups including Utah's Southwest Symphony. His steady music interest was with the Golden Memories Band, a group of friends who spent over a decade entertaining widely, including residents of rest homes in St. George, Hurricane and Beaver, Utah. Frank was an active member of the St. George Catholic Church. He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Broomhead of Ivins, UT, Marsha Wong of Beaver, UT, Paula Ryan of Washington, UT and Patricia Hudson of Marina, CA; his son, Joseph M. Ryan of Las Vegas, NV. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.
