ADAM C. SCHUYLER DEAD AT LAPEL
LAPEL, Ind. Jan. 1 - Adam Clark Schuyler, age 78, resident of Lapel and community most of his life, died at 4:45 a.m. today at his home here. He had been in ill health since last October and had been confined to bed for the last 2 1/2 weeks. He was the father of L. Floyd Schuyler, city editor of the Anderson Herald.
Mr. Schuyler was born September 8, 1863, on a farm northwest of Lapel, the son of Jacob and Sarah Schuyler, and he had lived in Lapel and vicinity all of his life with the exception of a few years spent in Illinois. He had been engaged in farming all of his adult life. He had lived in the house where he died for more than thirty years. Mr. Schuyler was a member of the Red Men's lodge at Lapel.
The body was taken to the Rex McCarty funeral home where it will remain until the hour of the services. Rites will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Lapel United Brethren church. The Rev. H. T. Walker of Montpelier, former pastor, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Floyd Everly, present pastor. Burial will be in the Grove Lawn cemetery at Pendleton.
Survivors are the son, Floyd; a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Herron of Lapel; nine grandchildren and a half-brother, Ben Bogart of Oaklandon. His wife, Barbara Ellen Schuyler died June 3, 1937, and another son, Ernest Schuyler, died in 1923.
