Birth: Jul. 27, 1927
Death: Aug. 21, 2003

Actress. Graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. In the 1950's Ross became one of the country's first female weather reporters, working for WSOC in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1960 she played opposite Rory Calhoun in the film, "Thunder In Carolina". In 1964 she founded one of Charlotte's first modeling and charm schools, the Troyanne Ross Institute of Modeling (TRIM). She owned the school for 23 years. She acted for many years with the Mint Museum Drama Guild, now the Charlotte Repertory Theater, and The Charlotte Little Theater, now Theatre Charlotte, and the Flatrock Playhouse. She was an active member of the Charlotte Vegetarian Society and was a longtime member of the Unitarian and Unity Church. A model for most of her life, she was featured in a tourism print ad and represented North Carolina in the Miss Senior Sweetheart Contest in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 2002. In her kitchen was a large picture of a sunrise hung upside down. She said that it reminded her that there is more than one way to look at things. Ross was the mother of three children, Lina T. White, Sheridan Hill and Derek Ross. Sheridan has written a book, My Name As A Prayer, about the last year of her mothers life. (bio by: Julie Karen Hancock (Cooper) Jackson)
