He became the fire chief in 1958 and served for six years under Mayor Lewis Cutrer. In 1929 he married Evelyn Faye Brewer and they were married for sixty-three years until her death in Decemeber 1992. Member of Arabia Temple Shrine, Master Mason receiving a sixty year pin in 1994. Served as Secretary of the International Fire Chiefs Association, and was instrumental in introducing the third shift and firefighters Pension Plan. After retiring in 1964, Chief Bullock, along with his son Jim, went into the service station business operating two Chevron outlets until retirement in January 1990. Chief Bullock served the Houston Fire Department from 1926-1964. Father of Jim Bullock and Sandra Truhitte. Grandfather of James Regan Bullock and Jacqueline Truhitte, and great grandfather of Emily Anne. Brother of Gladys Blake.
