Velma Marie Plunk, 88, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Metzger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Plunk was born Aug. 3, 1913, in Fowler, Kan. She had been a Stratford resident since 1929. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a music teacher for preschool children. She married Vergil Aubury Plunk on Nov. 9, 1933, in Boise City, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 11, 1996; and two daughters, Virginia Lee "Jonnie" Plunk on Jan. 1, 1959 and Shirley Armstrong on Sept. 14, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Timmons of Amarillo and Linda McClellan of Lewisville; a son, John Plunk of Dalhart; a sister, Serena Mae Craft Hulsey of Springdale, Ark; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church children's program, P.O. Box 1289, Stratford, TX 79084.
