Mr. J. H. Crouch Dead
Mr. James H. Crouch, who resided with his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charles French, in the Ava community, died Tuesday morning. He was sick for several days.
Mr. Crouch was a Confederate Veteran and a highly respected citizen. He was born and raised in Beat 4.[*] His wife preceded him to the other world several years ago.
His body was carried to Providence Thursday and laid to rest. The Masonic fraternity had charge of the services at the grave.
*James Henry "Jim" Crouch was born in Georgia, probably Meriwether County. Jim and his family are enumerated in the 1850 Meriwether County, GA census. He and his family were living in Randolph County, Alabama by the time of the 1860 census.
