Dr. Brent G. Bills of Lander died in a plane crash near Casper, on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011. He was 60. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Brent Glen Bills was born to Hal D. and Bonnie Snyder Bills on Jan. 9, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of Utah, and then earned a dental degree with an orthodontic specialty from Washington University in St. Louis. He married Laural Sanders in the Salt Lake Temple on Dec. 19, 1977. They made their home in Lander where Dr. Bills established an orthodontic practice. His family said Dr. Bills loved learning and constantly sought to master new skills – from keeping up with the latest development in orthodontics to designing his own office and studying the writings of the American Founders. Dr. Bills served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, used his professional skills to set up an orthodontic clinic in Honduras, and devoted thousands of hours organizing a patriotic fireworks display and Freedom Celebration for the community each year. He is survived by his wife, Laural; his children, Jennifer Guertin and husband Noah, Joshua Bills and his wife Katie, Sarah Richardson and her husband Daniel, Matthew Bills and wife Trish, Rachel Schmutz and husband D.J., and Whitney Bills; his foster daughter, Jenny Schmeltzer and her husband John; his mother, Bonnie Bills; his siblings, Ken Bills and wife Elia, Marjorie Bills, Diane Kenison and husband Clyde, Shauna and Randy, George Bills, Marie Hansen and husband Jeff, Gary Bills and wife Kelli, and Alan Bills; 11 grandchildren; five foster grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Hal Bills.
