Hampshire Gazette & Northampton Courier, March 25 1880, p3
Ephraim Pittsinger, 60 years old, was instantly killed in the saw-mill of O. Bisbee & Son at Chesterfield Tuesday. A board just sawn from a log was caught by the circular saw and thrown in such a way that it struck him on the head, and a sharp piece penetrated his neck like a sword. He was born in Westhampton and lived there until he was of age, when he removed to Chesterfield. He served faithfully in the war as a member of the 37th regiment, and with this exception he had worked in Bisbee's mill nearly every season for thirty years without previous accident. He was a modest man, a good citizen and neighbor, and leaves a wife and two children.
