Funeral services were held at 1 pm at St Johns Methodist church in Mapleton for Martin Drenkhahn, Jr 71, of rural Danbury who died Thursday at the Battlecreek, Iowa hospital after a long illness. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City.
Mr Drenkhahn was born December 28, 1892 at Stanwood, Iowa, the son of Martin and Lena Scheer Drenkhahn. He came to Danbury as a small boy. He married Frances Kelley on March 24, 1920 at Mapleton. They moved to a farm 6 miles west of Danbury in 1920 where he retired 2 years ago.
He was a veteran of WW1. He was a past school director and president of the Bluff Center School District near Oto.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs James Scholtes; 3 sons, Clifford, Marvin, and Donald; a sister Miss Elizabeth Drenkhahn; 2 brothers, Fred and John; and 6 grandchildren.
