OBITUARY - Dorothy M. Ahrens, 76, of Beloit, Wi died Saturday 01-01-1994 in St. Clare Meadows Care Center, Baraboo, Wi. A Beloit resident for most of her life, she was born 02-15-1917, in Santa Monica, Ca., the daughter of Roscoe and Mildred Byron Robinson. She married George J. Ahrens on 10-20-1942, in Orlando, Fla. He preceded her in death on 01-20-1988. Mrs. Ahrens was employed as a medical secretary for the Beloit Hospital for a number of years and during World War II, she was employed as a secretary for the FBI in Washington, DC. She was also a secretary for the Beloit Corp. and Fairbanks Morse.
She was referred to as "Laughing Grandma" by her grandchildren. Dorothy was a very creative person. She especially enjoyed writing, arts and crafts, and gardening. She had a great love for music, reading and animals. Family, friends, and the holidays were always most important to her. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Georgia (Martin) Meyers, and Susan Alexander; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Helen Fleming.
She was predeceased by her parents; 1 daughter, Mary Jo Allen, a grandson, Daniel Meyers; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery.
