Ira R Austin, a veteran of the Word War, and resident of Mexico and vicinity for many years died last Friday in Fairview North Carolina. Mr Austin enlisted for service September 27 1917 and served with Co A 502nd Engineers of the 78th Division until his discharge June 1919 when he returned to Mexico and was engaged as a mechanic.
He was born in the town of Morristown St Lawrence Co Nov 1 1893 son of Chauncey and Anna Keys Austin who survive. Other survivors include his wife Ethel Maybee Austin, son Gene C both of Mexico. Burial was in New Haven Cemetery.
