Mrs. Susie Frances Maxwell, 56, died Saturday afternoon at her home in Darlingotn. She was the mother of 17 children. Born in Montgomery County on April 11, 1899, she was the daughter of James M. and Maude Gardner Dowden. On Oct. 20, 1914 she was married to Ales L. Maxwell. She was a member of the Darlington Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include nine sons, James and Richard of Lafayette, Marion and Darrell of Darlington, Harry of Thorntown, Alvin of Putnamville, Robert of Crawfordsville, Franklin with the U.S. Army in Germany and Donald of Colfax; six daughters, Mrs. George Dietz and Mrs. Warner Lane of Anderson, Mrs. Lester Ellis of Linnsburg, Mrs. Jesse Harwood of Rt 2, Crawfordsville and Mrs. Lonnie Burchfield of Darlington; a brother, Robert of Crawfordsville; one half sister, Mrs. Ed Shuler of Crawfordsville, 49 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two daughters precede her in death. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at the Bright Funeral Home in Darlington, with Rev John Simpson officiating. Buriel will be in the Darlington IOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.
